Job Summary: 

Labster is looking for an experienced UX Researcher with solid research skills to discover and develop what could become a core product for Labster. 

This position will have an extensive impact over Labster’s public-facing product which is at the heart of our company mission to democratize access to science education.

You’ll work closely with a cross-functional team of developers, QA engineers, and product owners to analyse, create and enhance the current design and user experience.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct research projects and activities; defining research objectives, analysing results, and prioritising outcomes in line with what is best for our clients and our business goals.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product and Engineering teams on incorporating UX research insights into product solutions and UX improvements on web and mobile applications.
  • Ensure that user research is incorporated into everything we do and build empathy for clients’ needs across the company.
  • Mentor and coach members of the Product team on appropriate research methods and practices enabling them to run their own research discoveries or testing.
  • Help define product development roadmap by building a holistic view of our clients.
  • Help to implement best product design practices and standards to ensure our solutions bring value to clients.
  • Help to develop the UX Research function within Labster, working directly with the Head of design.

Qualifications: 

  • A passion for creating an understanding and empathy for people’s needs and a strong can-do attitude to drive change.
  • You should have some formal education in Human-Computer Interaction, Research Methodologies, Cognitive Science, Information Science, or a related research-based field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience in a wide range of exploratory and evaluative research methods, including in-depth ethnographic interviews, contextual inquiry, diary studies, surveys, and usability testing.
  • The ability to synthesize research data into actionable insights and principles to guide the work of designers, product managers, senior management, and marketing.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, to articulate and persuade stakeholders with the findings you’ve uncovered from research.
  • The desire and ability to engage team members from across the organisation to participate in research activities, and to employ those skills themselves on their own projects.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • An approachable and friendly manner and enjoys working with a team.
  • A self-motivated person who thrives with a good degree of ownership.
