This is a mix of a classic Technical Product Owner role and a leadership position to help structure and grow our team. The role will work closely with other Product Owners, the engineering team, and our Vertical Product Managers. Our technical products interface with both our internal engineering and content teams and our external customers. 

The products this role will initially work directly with include our customer integrations (Learning Management Systems) and will be improving the user journey and access experience for half our user-base, including many of our high profile customers. 

You will bring a diverse set of product owners and domain experts to the next level of their professional development, so a strong product owner skill-set and experience mentoring product owners is essential.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Classic product owner responsibilities for one designated development team (~7 engineers) such as writing user stories and prioritizing the backlog
  • Representing the voice of a large number of our customer base
  • Leading our understanding of value for our LMS customers
  • Mentor other technical product owners on best practices
  • Being a resource to other technical product owners to solve challenges or bottlenecks within their product domains
  • High-level roadmap alignment across all technical products
  • Aligning on high-level prioritization and strategy with Vertical Product Managers, Head of Platform
  • Ensuring consistent use of tracking and roadmap tools (jira etc)
  • Leading 4-6 Technical Product Owners and recruiting new talent


Qualifications: 

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • 5+ years in product owner roles, ideally with a strong technical focus
  • 2+ years leading and coaching product owners
  • Experience within the EdTech space is a plus
  • Some experience working with foundation products that serve multiple market segments or verticals
  • A well-worn toolkit of user testing and product validation techniques
  • Experience establishing value-based metrics
  • Experience managing and creating consistency approach to owning a variety of technical products
  • Demonstrated ability to triage feedback coming from a large customer base including high profile clients
  • Experience in a B2B2C environment, balancing inputs from decision makers and end-users a plus
