We are looking for a highly qualified person to provide strategic leadership in developing and executing talent strategies in support of our mission and vision. 

You will be essential to building an amazing team here at Labster as we scale throughout 2021 and beyond. Through high impact and meaningful work, you will directly contribute to Labster's mission to help millions of students and science educators globally.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a thought leader of people experience and set up all team members for success by aligning our people experience strategy with the organization’s strategic plan and growth targets
  • Collaboratively design and implement initiatives and programs that allow our employees to be the best version of themselves, aligning their effort to the purpose of Labster. This is done with respect towards diverse cultures and through smart organizational design and bottom-up change management practices.
  • Facilitate frequent, open and honest internal communication across Labster in a down-to-earth relatable and collaborative style
  • Develop and quickly implement innovative and scalable talent acquisition strategies and tools that will continue to attract top talent to the mission of Labster, with an emphasis on global diversity. 
  • Lead and champion the core values and mission to strengthen the highly engaging global and diverse culture and ensure alignment of teams and departments to the purpose and mission of Labster
  • Help the current People team members grow in their various capacities and provide inspirational leadership and guidance on progressive HR practices as well as the principles of Holacracy
  • Coach people managers on best practices 
  • Provide expertise in motivating, developing, and retaining people across Labster
  • Develop and implement a compensation and benefits philosophy that is clear, competitive, and fair
  • Handle and control the global People budget.
  • Identify and implement tech tools that support a seamless back office as and that facilitate a supportive tech ecosystem for all employees around development, learning and engagement
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labour policies, laws and local regulations, keep up to date with any changes in the regulatory environment in each region, and implement changes as needed.

Qualifications

We expect to find a great candidate who's up for the task of really owning the role's accountabilities and for whom no task is too small or too big. Concretely, we envision the below experience and capabilities:

  • 10+ years of experience building, leading and managing People and Talent Acquisition teams, and at least five years of international HR experience, ideally in a fast-paced, global/remote and rapidly scaling environment
  • Proven track record of setting a vision and strategy to drive progressive people agendas that are beyond traditional HR approaches
  • Proven track record of making high-level strategic initiatives tangible and convert strategic ideas into tangible, concrete initiatives, while understanding the practicalities of HR 
  • Track record of achieving results while building and fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance culture. Experience with Holacracy is beneficial
  • Exceptional people skills; able to connect authentically to everyone and understand how to tap into different cultures’ specific challenges. This includes strong communication skills (both verbal and written) that speaks to everyone in the business. 
  • Ability to coach and mentor at all levels of the organization on sound talent management practices
  • Proven ability to scale Talent Acquisition in a highly competitive environment 
  • Strong change management experience in a rapidly scaling environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operating budgets with practical experience with compensation strategies and implementation
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Demonstrated creativity when addressing challenging situations with limited resources
  • Experience with a global workforce, understanding the differences in culture, customs, and labour and employment practices and laws

Who you'll work with

You will play a key role in collaborating closely with all team leads across Labster, and work directly with the Labster leadership team and key board members. Moreover, Labster is backed by GGV Capital, Owl Ventures, Balderton, Northzone and other top international investors, whose network you’ll have direct access to. You will be supported by EdTech experts with knowledge, direction, and network. Through this opportunity, you will gain deep insight into the latest developments in Edtech and the mechanics of fast-growth companies.
